Our History

Founded in 1930 in Valkeakoski, Finland, Walki began as a paper mill. Over the decades, we have evolved through bold decisions, technological development and strategic acquisitions into a material science company focused on circularity and low-carbon solutions.

Key milestones include early investments in extrusion coating, international expansion, entry into construction and consumer packaging, and the integration into the Oji Group in 2024, strengthening our global R&D capabilities and footprint.

Our ability to adapt has defined us for nearly a century and continues to guide our future.

Packaging Materials for a fibre-based future
Walki Packaging Materials

Walki supports the transition toward easily recyclable, fibre-based packaging solutions for industrial and specialty applications. Whenever possible, our materials are fibre-based to enable efficient recycling. For demanding, high-barrier uses, we develop mono-material solutions that combine performance and recyclability. The portfolio includes barrier boards for frozen food, food-on-the-go and household products, barrier linings for pre-printed liners, liners for fish, fruit and vegetable boxes, as well as reel, industrial and flexible packaging materials.

Engineered Materials for Sustainable Constructions
