Walki®EVO Seal
Packaging that Performs and Recycles
Recyclable, medium to high barrier, paper-based packaging with dispersion coating.
Better shelf life.
Better recyclability.
Better packaging.

Walki®EVO Seal is a recyclable, dispersion-coated fibre packaging for medium–high barrier performance. Compatible with standard paper recycling and designed for PPWR Recyclability Classes, EVO Seal combines heat-seal reliability with grease and moisture protection.
Optimised for flexo printing with water-based inks, it helps brands cut CO₂ and EPR costs while keeping high-speed production and shelf appeal.
-

Walki®EVO uses water-based dispersion coating to lay a thin, fully repulpable barrier onto paper or board, replacing fossil-based multilayer laminates. The coating protects against fat migration, water vapour and moisture while preserving the substrate’s ability to be re-pulped in conventional fibre streams. EVO Seal is engineered for heat-sealable formats and high-speed converting, delivering performance without compromising end-of-life circularity. -
Walki®EVO is fully recyclable in fibre waste streams. With a typical fibre content above 90%, EVO Seal supports classification under Recyclability Class in the forthcoming EU PPWR. This translates to a lower packaging carbon footprint and potential reductions in EPR fees and packaging taxes for brand owners. EVO Seal is printable with water-based inks and optimised for heat sealing, giving you a future-proof packaging option that meets regulatory and commercial needs.

-
Ideal for both food and non-food products
Walki®EVO Seal fits a wide variety of packaging formats where barrier protection, heat-seal reliability and recyclability are required. Engineered for high-speed converting, it lets brands move from plastic laminates to fibre-based solutions without losing performance.- Teabag envelopes — printable, heat-sealable and retail-ready
- Frozen foods — seafood, vegetables and bakery; resists moisture and preserves product quality
- Confectionery — pouch formats with reinforced euro-hole for secure hanging display
- On-the-go food pouches — robust seals for convenience formats and fill line speeds
- Secondary packaging — chocolate bar pouches, multipacks and retail-ready wraps
- Hygiene and household items

Walki Experts
Hear directly from our materials expert, Jarosław Kaczanowski, Strategic Product Development Manager, as he unpacks the science behind Walki®EVO Seal dispersion coatings – exploring recyclability, barrier performance and printability. Discover how these innovations are setting new standards for packaging that delivers both shelf appeal and circularity.
What makes Walki®EVO Seal different
Combining over 90% renewable fibre with industry-grade sealing, Walki®EVO Seal protects contents, prints beautifully and stays in the paper loop – reducing CO₂ and EPR exposure for brands.
Sustainability Focus:
Designed for circular performance
Walki®EVO Seal is engineered to put circularity at the heart of packaging design. Using renewable fibres and a water-based dispersion barrier, EVO Seal avoids multi-material laminates so the substrate remains easily repulpable and compatible with standard paper recycling streams. That means fewer materials to sort, lower end-of-life contamination and a smaller carbon footprint for the packaging lifecycle.
Key sustainability benefits
- High fibre content (typically >90%), supporting top-tier PPWR recyclability performance
- Reduced fossil polymer use, cutting embedded CO₂ compared with multilayer plastic laminates
- Designed for existing recycling infrastructure, lowering the risk of rejection at mills
- Commercial advantages: potential reductions in EPR fees and packaging taxes for brand owners
Reinforced Euro-hole
Can fibre-based packaging with a euro-hole stay on the hook?
Yes, it can! Thanks to a reinforced pouch concept co-developed by Walki and Rovema. By adding an invisible fibre-based strip above the euro-hole, the pouch gains the strength it needs to hang without tearing. This innovation enables brands to switch from plastic to recyclable fibre-based materials without compromising performance or speed. Fully compatible with Rovema’s high-output machines, the solution is plug-and-play for converters and fillers. Ideal not only for confectionery but also for toys, hardware and more. This is paper packaging, re-engineered to hang tough.

“Until now, paper pouches haven’t been sturdy enough to prevent tearing at the euro-hole. That’s been a key reason why only a few confectionery brands have made the switch from film to paper.”

Walki®EVO Seal is a dispersion-coated, fibre-based packaging material that combines medium to high barrier performance with heat-seal reliability. It’s made for printers and converters who want premium shelf appeal, robust sealing and a product designed from the start to be repulpable in conventional fibre recycling streams.
Yes. EVO Seal typically contains over 90% renewable fibre and a water-based dispersion barrier that keeps the substrate repulpable. It’s developed to align with the upcoming EU PPWR criteria and expected Recyclability Classes A or B, which can help brands reduce EPR fees and packaging taxes. Ask us for LCA or EPD data to quantify the benefits.
In many applications yes. EVO Seal replaces multilayer plastic laminates while preserving barrier performance and delivering a substantially lower CO₂ footprint and EPR-fees.
Typical applications include teabag envelopes, frozen foods (seafood, vegetables, bakery), confectionery with reinforced euro-hole, on-the-go snack pouches, secondary packaging and hygiene or household items.
A fibre-based reinforcement strip above the euro-hole prevents tearing so pouches can hang on hooks reliably while remaining fully recyclable.
