Walki Pietarsaari

Innovation at the core.
The Pietarsaari plant produces reel wrappers, copy paper wrappers, flexible packaging materials, barrier paper used in box manufacturing, and special products such as large advertising banner material.
The plant also hosts the Group’s Technical Competence Centre. The competence center is equipped with small-scale pilot machines used to test new materials. This allows materials to be evaluated on a limited scale, including their recyclability. Bags can also be produced from these materials on our packaging line as part of the development and validation process.
With around 170 employees, the plant plays a key role in developing next-generation material solutions that combine functionality with resource efficiency.

The Ylöjärvi plant focuses on fully compostable packaging materials for retail and industrial applications. Its portfolio includes compostable bags, sacks and converting films, alongside solutions made from recycled and virgin polyethylene.
With around 40 employees, the site is a key contributor to Walki’s development of circular material solutions aligned with evolving European regulation.

Opened in 2013, the Wrocław greenfield plant, with approximately 85 empolyees, produces wrapping materials for the paper industry, barrier lining and flexible packaging solutions. In early 2024, the site launched a new barrier board production line, reinforcing Walki’s strategy to replace plastics with fibre-based, recyclable alternatives.
Strategically located in southwestern Poland with strong highway connections to Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the plant enables reduced lead times across the region. Together with its sister plant in Steinfurt, Germany, Wrocław forms a coordinated production hub supporting the transition toward a circular economy.
